Dog Obedience Classes
Our expert trainer Pete uses Modern Training Techniques based on reward and encouragement. As well as being highly effective, these techniques build and reinforce the relationship you have with your dog. Sessions are held in Lower Slaughter in an enclosed paddock. Parking is available.

Our one-to-one training sessions include:
New Dog Preparation:

This consultation will provide you with vital information about what to expect from a new dog, how to choose a dog that suits you, how to avoid common pitfalls and any individual queries that you have.

Beginner and Puppy Training:
You'll learn how to teach your puppy or dog to come when called (an essential safety command), sit, stay and other basic behaviours. You'll also find out about loose lead walking (i.e. not pulling) and ignoring distractions.

Intermediate:
This involves more advanced skills such as roll over, walking to heel and long stays. We offer optional clicker training replacing the need for treats. Learning these skills are fun for your dog, satisfying for you both and will strengthen the bond between you.

Advanced Training and Agility:
This is best suited to specific breeds including Collies, Huskies and Malamuts, Retrievers, Spaniels and other dogs that are traditionally bred as working dogs. These lessons teach your dog basic agility such as jumping through hoops, running through tunnels and crossing a seesaw.

If you would like to discuss your dog's specific needs or would like more information on these classes phone or text Veronica on 07969 802188.

Dog Walking Services - Bourton on the Water and the immediate area

We cater for active, reasonably fit dogs who love a good cross country run. Your dog will be introduced to new friends to exercise and socialise with. Often the dogs we walk develop a special friendship with one or more of the other dogs so whenever possible we try to walk best friends together. When we're away from roads your dog will be let off lead to run around and play with other dogs for at least an hour. We tromp across the countryside in all weathers to ensure members of the Happy Pooches family are regularly exercised even on miserable rainy days when a long walk is the last thing owners feel like doing!

Of course we want to ensure your dog is kept safe and happy so your pooch must...

  • Behave sociably with other dogs.
  • Come when called.
  • Have the appropriate level of fitness.
  • Be neutered/spayed.

You are welcome to book a one-off slot or regular sessions for walking your pooch. There are no rules or limits to the regularity of your dog’s walks, except of course availability. Once you've booked a walk, if you change plans we require 24 hours cancellation notice.

Before your pooch’s first walk we’ll have a familiarisation visit to get to know you and your dog. This session will cost £14 which will be deducted from the first walk we have with your dog.

If you'd like more information phone or text Veronica on 07969 802188.
